THE WORSHIP COHORT
The worship cohort at New Life is a relational, highly intentional, and practical process designed to equip and prepare worship leaders for ministry in the local church. Our aim is to set aside time to sit with God’s word, practical teaching, and experiential learning environments to help us live out our God-given calling as worship leaders.
WHAT TO EXPECT
1:1 Mentorship
The foundation of the cohort is relationship. You will be put in a small group of 3-4 people with a mentor who will walk beside you every step of the way.
Learning Opportunities
Do you want to learn to plan a worship service? Or learn to write worship songs? You will be provided many different learning opportunities including books, podcasts, videos, live teaching, and experiences. All of these opportunities will help you develop and try out new skills you learn in the process.
Biblical Insight and Leadership Development
Throughout this program, you will gain a deeper understanding of your identity and calling, increase your Biblical insight about the role of worship in the Church, and gain confidence to lead with both spiritual authority and creative excellence.
Cohort Schedule
Semester One -
Aug 3rd, 2026 - Dec 11th, 2026
During semester one, we will cover two of our core values: Christ-Centered, and Whole-Hearted.
Semester Two -
January 4th, 2027 - May 14th, 2027
During semester two, we will cover the final two core values: Servant-Minded, and Spirit-Filled.
Curriculum and Expectations
Each semester will consist of in-person meetings and regular check-ins with a mentor in a small group. The purpose of this format is to maximize what you learn through constant conversation that happens in the context of relationships.
The curriculum for the Cohort is categorized around our four core values: Christ-Centered, Whole-Hearted, Servant-Minded, and Spirit-Filled. The content is a collection of books, videos, and podcasts from teachers that are highly respected, Biblically sound, and relevant to the modern worship experience. Each piece of content is meant to further discussion and open doors of understanding. The use of a particular source is not to be understood as a whole-hearted endorsement of everything that author does or says. The Bible is the ultimate source of authority and supersedes everything we learn from others.
In order to maintain consistency and maximize the impact of this program, each member of the cohort is expected to attend all meetings and engage in the mentorship group.
